The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, has shared his thoughts on the comparison made between Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi.
The success Guardiola had at Barcelona during his tenure was due to Messi. During his first season in charge of Barcelona, the Manchester City manager took home every trophy available to him.
Haaland has also been in outstanding form since finalizing his transfer from the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund to the Premier League. He has participated in 20 goals across all competitions and scored 14 league goals in 8 games.
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, the Manchester derby was played at the Etihad Stadium, and Guardiola was speaking after the game. He claims that while Messi can accomplish everything by himself, Haaland requires the assistance of his teammates to produce such a performance.
The difference, Erling needs maybe all his mates, you know to do it. Unbelievable. Messi had the ability for himself to do it.
