‘Don’t Sleep’ – ‘Revenge or Repeat? Anthony Joshua takes on Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia

British professional boxer of Nigerian descent Anthony Joshua has a heavyweight rematch against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

Last September at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Joshua was outclassed by Usyk and lost his world heavyweight titles in the process.

The rematch between the two fighters has been tagged the Rage on the Red Sea.

Back in February, Usyk traveled back to Ukraine and joined the military after the Russian invasion so the rematch originally planned for May was put on hold.

Usyk holds the IBF, IBO, WBA, and WBO heavyweight titles, and following Tyson Fury’s retirement the Ring Magazine belt will also be up for grabs.

Anthony Joshua makes confession about Oleksandr Usyk ahead of rematch Pulse Nigeria

Ahead of the fight, Joshua said, “Blips happen, but resilience, mental toughness, consistency will prevail. I’m focused on the target sitting over there.

“God willing I’ll perform and become a three-time heavyweight champion of the world.

Usyk on the other hand draws inspiration from events in Ukraine as motivation to retain the titles.

He said, “As we all know, we are not in the best conditions at the moment back at home, but we are doing what we have to do, we are doing our job, working hard to achieve our goals.

“I will enter the ring and I will make you happy with my boxing, thank you.”

The fight between Joshua and Usyk will take place in the indoor arena at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, August 20.

The main event will start around 12 AM on Sunday, August 21 as Saudi Arabia is three hours ahead of Nigeria and will be available on DSTV.
