When I received this 15 years certificate of service, my thoughts drifted to where it all begun and I scanned through the journey that has made me the person that I am today.
I like setting definite objectives. When I joined the Bank fresh from The University, my objective was clear – earn the 3 months KES 10,000 retainer that the bank would pay Direct Sales Reps then leave and look for a more meaningful job.
What started off as a temporary quick fix has turned out to be an amazing journey of personal and professional growth that I can’t trade for anything.
I have learnt that there’s is no magic pill to success. It can’t be rushed but can be guaranteed if we learn to handle delayed gratification and remain consistent in doing the right things.
I have learnt that everything we ever need is with PEOPLE. There is no investment vehicle that would yield higher returns than building helpful relationships.
I have learnt to treat people well no matter what their station. You never know the extent of their influence.
I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the best bosses and colleagues who have shaped my world view and challenged me to be the best version of myself. I thank every last one of you.
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Standard Chartered Bank for offering me the opportunity to discover my talents and equiping me with the right skill sets to execute.
To the so many customers I have been privileged to serve over the years, some of whom took my growth as their personal projects, I dedicate this to you.
To the industry leaders who have offered themselves to mentor me along this journey, I am still work in progress and can’t thank you enough.
With positive expectancy and active faith anchored on God, I look forward to how the future is going to pan out.
